New direct access to Al Warqa from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to open early next week
Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced to open a new direct entry and exit point to Al Warqa from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road early next week, dramatically reducing travel time and trip distance for motorists.
The new connection cuts travel time from 20 minutes to just 3.5 minutes, a reduction of 80%, and shortens the journey from 5.7km to just 1.5km. The upgraded route is expected to accommodate 5,000 vehicles per hour, easing congestion and streamlining access to the neighbourhood.
Upgrade
As part of the broader improvement plan, RTA has also upgraded Street 13 in Al Warqa 1 to serve residents and school zones more efficiently. These enhancements are part of an 8km internal road development project aimed at improving traffic flow, cutting travel delays, and raising the quality of life.
Reducing commute time
An RTA spokesperson said: “This is a strategic investment in reduced commute times and smarter connectivit. We are delivering faster, safer, and more sustainable mobility options aligned with Dubai’s rapid urban growth.”
RTA is also progressing with internal road upgrades in Al Warqa 3 and 4, including new pedestrian paths, parking, and over 23km of cycling tracks, to promote alternative transport and improve last-mile connectivity.
Future plans include converting existing roundabouts in Al Warqa 1 into smart signalised intersections, expected to enhance traffic flow by up to 30% by year-end.
New parking areas
Earlier improvements near the School of Research Science and GEMS Royal Dubai School included 150 new parking spaces and secured access points, cutting school-zone congestion by up to 50%.
In Al Warqa 4, internal roads supporting the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing project for 136 villas are now complete, featuring pedestrian-friendly designs and a 7.4km cycling track to support eco-friendly transport.
The RTA’s approach has been shaped by direct community feedback, gathered in interactive sessions with Al Warqa residents — ensuring local voices guide infrastructure solutions.
